US Open

In one of the most surprising US Open tournaments, the argentine Juan Martin del Potro stopped tennis legend and five time defending champion, Roger Federer, in five sets to win the first Grand Slam title of his career. At 21, Del Potro became the first argentine to win the US Open since Guillermo Vilas in 1977. He is the youngest in the top 20, and this year always won titles at the Heineken Open in Auckland and Washington, DC’s Legg Mason Tennis Classic, defeating Andy Roddick and winning the title for the second straight year.
On ladies side, we saw how Kim Clijsters, after a long break from tennis (after giving birth), captured the second US Open of her career. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-3.
