In 2010 Juan Martin del Potro defeated Roger Federer in five sets, becoming the first Argentinian since Guillermo Vilas in 1977, to win the Open. This was the first Grand Slam of his career being one of the youngest to win the US Open at 21 years old. On ladies side, we saw how Kim Clijsters, after a long break from tennis (after giving birth), captured the second US Open of her career. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki 7-5, 6-3.
Five different divisions make up the two-week tournament including the men and women’s singles, the men and women’s doubles and the mixed doubles.
