The third Sony Ericsson Open will take place on the Island of Key Biscayne in Miami Florida. This tournament attracts more than 270,000 spectators as the leading international professional tennis tournament outside the four Grand Slams. Reigning champions Andy Murray and Victoria Azarenka return to the tournament as 96 men and 96 women compete for the $6.9 million equal prize fund.

In 2009, Andy Murray defeated third-ranked Novak Djokovic to hoist his first Sony Ericsson Open trophy. On the womens side Victoria Azarenka held on to hoist the Sony Ericsson Open Cup for the first time as she beat #1 ranked Serena Williams in front of a capacity crowd in three sets.
